Keith Mears is a 5th generation farmer who grows 310 acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat near Delphi, IN with his wife, Kristen, and three children ages seven, four, and one.  After growing up on an organic row crop farm, Keith worked together with his wife to start his own conventional farm while working full time as an engineer.  Starting a farm without any equipment, Keith became a no-till farmer out of necessity because he did not own any tillage equipment. 

Now farming full time Keith decided to stick with no-till after experiencing the benefits to our precious soil and water resources.  Keith has implemented several minimum tillage practices including 5 years of continuous no-till, extended crop rotations, and cover crops on his owned acres.  In addition to these practices Keith strives to have a climate smart farm by minimizing fuel consumption and using no-till banding of nutrients for maximum nutrient and energy efficiency.
